As Preston’s leading aesthetic practitioners, here at The Skin and Wellbeing Clinic, we offer a range of high quality, effective aesthetic treatment options, including dermal fillers, chemical peels and laser hair removal. But when is the best time of year to consider laser hair removal? And does this really make a difference? Well, Autumn does tend to be an effective choice, but why?
Why is Autumn the best time to start laser hair removal treatment?
There are a number of reasons why the season of Autumn is the best time of the year to start a laser hair removal treatment schedule. These reasons include:
- Less sunshine – in the Autumn the weather begins turning colder, and more miserable. And while there are plenty of bright and light days to enjoy, the weather is usually much colder than the Summer. This means that it will be much easier for you to stay in, or covered up, to avoid the sun for the two weeks before treatment starts, and the two weeks afterwards, so that your skin does not become damaged from the UV rays. This is something that can be a challenge for many people, but in the Autumn months, when you are wrapped up in your favourite sweater, the target treatment areas are much more likely to be covered anyway, and its much easier to stay inside.
- You can cover up between treatments – for the period between treatments, you shouldn’t wax the area being treated by laser hair removal, as this can have a negative impact on the skin, the hair follicles, and the overall results of the laser hair removal. And while shaving between treatments is acceptable, during the Autumn you can comfortably stay covered up, and no one will know if you miss a shave!
- Less heat – Summer months can be hot and uncomfortable, while Autumn tends to be a much more comfortable temperature. In terms of laser hair removal, this is an important consideration as the aftercare guidelines suggest preventing profuse sweating until the redness goes away. In the height of summer, even walking out of the clinic into the heat can be enough to cause sweating, which could interfere with the treatment. However, during the Autumn, you are much more likely to stay at a reasonable temperature.
- No fake tan – in the Autumn months it is highly likely that your fake tan schedule will have slowed down a little bit in comparison with the Spring and Summer. This means that preparing for your laser hair removal treatment will be easier, as for two weeks before your treatment, you will need to avoid fake tan as well as the previously mentioned sun exposure. During the Autumn months, you can wrap up warm and feel more comfortable and confident when not using fake tan.
